Ning.com Policy changes

As of January 1st, Ning.com will close down any networks that contain, and/or promote, sexual material. All members must go through their profiles and promptly delete any images and videos that would violate the new terms of service.

I have placed to much time and effort into this site to just let it get closed down because some jack off thinks they are smarter than the system. Images and videos that violate the new terms are HIGHLY STRICT. Not only pornographic materials, but fetish materials, medical images and videos, and more are in question.

I will be banning any and all members the week prior to January 1st if I find images and videos containing any form of nudity.

A quick addition to this information. I am assuming certain networks are being contacted in regards to whether their sites will be closed or not. I have not been contacted directly on this matter, however, I am taking precautions. Until I get further information, I still ask that everyone remove any images that may be seen as "pornographic" or contains nudity.

I am hoping that enough network administrators will be emailing ning in regards to this unfair level of censorship imposed to us. As administrator, I feel that it is my responsibility to ensure the sanctity of the network, NOT Ning.com. However, seeing that this is on their network, they must protect their assets. Regardless, I am hoping that MySatan.net is not going to be affected by this.

In all, folks, please abide by my request. I know that WE ALL do not want to loose this site.

I posted an update to a few questions I had for Ning and they clarified a few things. Sites like Satan 18Plus are doomed, unfortunately. However, members that post adult images in a "legal" open network such as this are up to the admins (me) whether it is allowed to stay or not

Well as the founder of Satan18Plus im pretty pissed off, to say the least! I have worked extremely hard for nearly a year to get the site to wear it is at currently and have just also made my partner Rev.Jody Griggs an administrator/moderator on there (the first to share this role).
We had just got round to considering new ideas for the site when i got the 'standard' email in my inbox telling me that as a founder of an adult Ning site i should be aware that Ning will be closing all adult sites as of Jan 1st. The email explained very little except the adult sites were no longer 'financially viable' .
After a little research and many conspiracy theories later it seems it basically knuckles down to money- apparently these 'adult' sites do not get enough sponsorship to maintain their places.Which confuses me somewhat because i thought porn was pretty big on the internet these days, well.. it was the last time i checked anyway!
So my situation is hopeless, i cannot fight against the decision nor can i remove the pictures, videos etc., because Satan18Plus is a satanic fetish/porn site! So what am i supposed to do apart from roll over and take it....(Hmmm, i wonder?) Unfortunately this also means, that unless people personally save them, 1,700 pictures will be lost as well as some very intelligent (lol not always though i must admit) and interesting blogs, discussions, essays, videos and art. In addition 206 (as of today's count) of my members have lost there little censorship free haven where we all felt pretty at home.
BUT this will not be the end of Satan18Plus...OH NO! I will find a way! Im currently looking into different avenues and trying to figure out how i can recreate/move the site in a way that has nothing to do with Ning or will affect sites such as Mysatan, ICoS etc.. I will be saving my membership list and when something is figured out i will let people know! So watch this space......

Sorry but it never fails to disapoint me how people in this country are so screwed up in regards to the most wonderful human experience that doesn't invole chemicals. Everybody is sexual. Everybody is here because of it. Everybody enjoys it. ESPECIALLY the douche bags who sweep it under the rug. Yet, it MUST NOT BE DISCUSSED or SEEN.

Thanks for that Eric, gave a bit more info! Well it still seems there is nothing i can do to stop the closure so i have to admit defeat although myself and Jody are looking into other avenues of rebuilding the site and i think have found a place where we may be able to do it. Lets hope so.

well it was social.go but it seems to be lacking alot of the ning features, such as customising profiles and the like. BUT satan18plus hasn't been closed yet... which is weird!

I found out on the post that Ning has that adult oriented sites will be taken down the 5th now, not the 1st. Will this date be "postponed" again on the 5th, as a way for Ning to get around their issue with Google?

Adult oriented sites have to generate a lot of revenue for Ning, ranging in not just the ads, but in the fact that those that want a high profile site will end up paying for a lot of the features.

right ok...i hadn't heard about the postponing till now, so thanks. Yea....the adult sites do seem to bring in alot of revenue for ning and in the long run it may cost more for other users to have the added features. Its unfortunate that this is the way things have gone, but perhaps this is a positive sign that they have postponed it for now...we'll see..
