This is what I'm talking about when Eric rings the bell and anounces that we have such and such members. I'm like GREAT!, How come out of such and such members, there are roughly 10-15 people in the mosh pit (forum)?
PEOPLE! Get involved. Talk to us. Take a stand on an issue. Make yourself known. Stop uploading morose songs and collecting friends and get dirty for fuck's sake. It's your time to shine. Step up!
Shhhhh, don't let my secret underlining plan out to the open! LOL.
The problem with forums is that there is always lurkers. People that are interested in the discussion, yet don't feel they have anything worthwhile to input. Same with the various egroups we have been a part of. Not ever conversation piques our need to give input. In that case, start something. That always makes sense.
The other issue is when certain members that have been very active up and delete themselves and leave. We are then left with threads that are broken, disappear, or just don't make any sense what so ever. We have a member that just deleted her account...I guess she is "to good for this place" from what I got from her message to me. Regardless, it disrupts the whole, and leaves new members confused about what is going on.
To hell with her bi polar ass! She brought nothing to the table but drive by ramblings. Good riddence to bad garbage!
That having been said, I'm calling on the lurkers to be producers. Get in here!
I would have to say that some of the lurkers are really observers, trying to basicly get a feel for the topics discussed and maybe working up the courage to put their own two cents in either with a reply, or a topic of their own. Others still are here, as with other networking sites to just gather a long friend's list and upload morose songs. I for one am getting better with my posts as far as style in that goes, which i accredit to polishing my skill and having the inspiration of those who are more seasoned producers. Speaking for myself this forum has given me more confidence in my posts. All in all this is a place with alot of substance and intelligent individuals.
Exactly, actually, being in there is what's important. It just occured to me that may be this thread of yours wiil bring the lurkers, forward with something to contribute. It's quite possible.
"How come out of such and such members, there are roughly 10-15 people in the mosh pit (forum)?"
To answer your original question:
There are a lot of members who I have had contact with, who are trying to learn, and don't have the confidence to chime in. To these individuals I say: what better way to learn then by getting into the mix?
Also, I am quite certian that some, if not many, of the nonactive profiles arn't satanists at all, but rather "online missonaries" in disguise. Of course they arn't going to speak, after spying for so long, it is my bet that many of them don't dare to chime in. Most of them probebly opened their profiles with the intent to save some souls, but soon realized throughout lurking that satanists are for the most part educated, and can defend their positions well. Thus, many of them pack up camp and leave without ever typing a word. I'm guessing that those same individuals who couldn't muster the will to actually participate in a true satanic forum, still go back to their mission groups and share with the rest of their mindless congragation how they planted the seed of god within the sacreligious travisty known as MySatan.
You also have your dabblers...or troubled individuas, who had no clue what satanism was when they first arived, were dissapointed about the lack of animal and human sacrafices, but never bothered to delete their profiles.
As for me, I just don't have the time to post daily. Side effet of having a life outside of the forums.
I'm aware of the variables and I'm not expecting daily activity. We all live our lives. But at my estimate we have less than one percent participation in the pit. That's fucked!
I can only speak for myself here, of course, but now that it's summer, I tend to be out doing things more, than say in the winter time. I don't know if anyone else has noticed a trend, in the fact that in the summer, posting may slow down a bit. I don't know. I am NOT trying to make an excuse, as I don't need too, but this was something that came to mind when reading your post.
Also, I don't know if I would be considered a "stocker" or not...I reply to topics I feel I have something to say, while other posts, I simply read and see if there is any information I may glean from the thread. Sometimes I do, sometimes not, that's how it goes.
For those that don't ever post, I would also suggest that jumping in is really the best way to deal with this site, at least that's been my experience. (when I post.) :) If your fear is that someone will disagree with you, all I can say is that it happens, both in here and in real life, but that's no reason not to express yourself, in either case. As my young nephew said to his sister, during a dispute, "Build a bridge, and get over it."
I totally agree about jumping in...If in fact an individual is afraid of dissagreements with others, I would suggest that they don't have the spine it takes in order to be a Satanist. Lets not forget, 100% of conservative America disagrees with us as well as probebly 95% or Liberal America. Christians, muslims, Jews...all hate us, and I like it that way.
All I am saying is that it takes a special kind of person to do what we do and live the way we live (well...that way I live anyway) and still maintain the aspects of respect to the responsible. We are the ones who truly walk the line (or at least the satanists who are worth their salt). That is our own line...
Well said, OXO.
It's never been my job to determine/judge how others live their lives, only me. I have seen some very messed up situations. I have seen the contradictions within 'organized' religion, and have chosen to hold myself to a much higher standard, compared to what I have seen. This is mayhap what you are referring to, as in respect to the responsible.
On a side note, I find it amusing to once again hear/read those words; "that it takes a special kind of person to do what we do." When I worked in Psych. for 8 years, I heard that same quote, time and time again! More-so referring to my/our ability to work with the mentally afflicted. I wonder if dealing with the sheeple of the world, isn't too far off from that same stance?
Something it think about, on my end anyway.
There was no reason for her to leave, I'm a very disagreeable person by most people's standards. I still valued her input when she was level headed enough to post without resorting to juvenile name calling. I have gotten over my fear of speaking my mind because most people will at least respect the fact that you have strong opinions unless apparently you don't share the same anatomy as them.I could go on but what I'm trying to illustrate is that regardless of if you have the same opinion or not shouldn't limit your replying to the topics at hand. I would even welcome a educated xtian to debate with us if they had the balls. Most of the women here do a great job at keeping up with the topics too, even if some of them are misogynistic at times. Don't be scerrd!
