MySatan

I AM NOT the type of guy who tolerates sloppy thinking; not in myself, not in my students, and not in others.

So it strikes me that while Satanists of all varieties debate who and what a "real" Satanist is, the real point is being missed.

Whether you are a Theistic, LaVeyan, Philosophical, Modern, Red, Pink, or Blue Satanist, there is one thing we all have in common. We are the Bad Guys. The Monsters. The Boogeymen (or to be politically correct, the Boogeypersons). In short, my esteemed Brothers and Sisters, we are the wolves among the sheep.

Don't give me that crap about Satanists being the "Good Guys," and that Satanism is misunderstood. Let's leave all that nonsense to the Wiccans. You and I chose the label "Satanist" because we identify with the villain. If we didn't, we wouldn't have selected the most offensive name in the book.

So it really tries my patience to hear Satanists talking about educating the masses, or trying to spread a positive image of Satanism. Am I the only person who finds the concept absurd? Imagine the wolf trying to improve his public image among the sheep, and see if you can still keep a straight face. There is no way you are going to convince your prey that you are a Nice Person. It doesn't work that way.

Obviously, I am not advocating rape, murder, or theft. Such things are cries for help, attempts to get satisfaction by people so inept they can't obtain what they want through guile and magic. But when I meet people, I immediate separate them into one of two categories; my Equals, or my Lunch.

My Equals are those who are just as resourceful, crafty, and dangerous as I am...or those who at least show the potential of being so. To me, the definition of a good friendship is finding someone who could give you the challenge of a lifetime if you ever ended up on opposite sides. Those are the people I respect, and the only ones I feel compelled to treat honestly and fairly.

My Lunch is all the rest...people who lack the nerve, the will, or the potential to ever be anything more than one of the herd. These are the people I give myself full permission to toy with, manipulate, and use. And because I AM a Satanist, I will do it in such a way that they never really know I've used them...and they probably end up enjoying it. In short, they are the bodies I have to climb over to get to the top. And before you get all sulky on me, just show me one successful human being who didn't feel the same way. Morality is for the middle classes, folks. I play to win.

So it boggles my mind that there are Satanists out there who want Satanism to someday be the major, accepted religion. Don't they get it? Without sheep, the wolves go hungry. I LIKE a Christian dominated society. The current system is my playground. It gives me a hunting ground in which I can move about unseen, stalking my prey. And not unlike the vampire, being the hunter is a constant game of strategy, lest the masses gang up and hunt you down. But that's part of the price for being what we are, and deep down inside, it's also part of the thrill.

C'mon, admit it. It's good to be bad.

I don't belive in good or evil I belive in human nature............most people conform to what is approved by soceity and then there are the few that don't. I am someone who does not follow the masses that is how I have always been. I agree that satanists should not try to make the belief look 'good' to the masses because satanism is not a belief for the masses of society.

Hmmm.....new as I am I still feel compelled to respond in some kind of way. First off, I joined MySatan because, as a WICCAN, I too feel outcast at times. People who think in mundane ways tend to lump wicca, paganism, buddahism, and of course satanism all into a catagory that is considered negative. So I am not sure what you mean when you say leave that to the wiccans. We are not that much different. I believe in religious freedom which includes not believing anything at all. We have to embrace the light as well as the dark for one cannot exist without the other. To strive for only white or light is futile. very pompous of us. We all follow different paths to the same end.....some just want to pave the path first..... Anywho.....glad to be here and you will hear from me now and then.....

"Don't give me that crap about Satanists being the "Good Guys," and that Satanism is misunderstood. Let's leave all that nonsense to the Wiccans."

I certainly hope this didn't seem offensive. All it means is that the Wiccans have worked very hard to make a positive image for Wicca, and to try and show that Witchcraft is not "evil." They've tried to clear the name of "witch" and gain public acceptance.

But for a Satanist to do this is nonsense. When I wrote this, I had in mind two of Anton LaVey's essays; "The Importance of Being Evil" and "The Goodguy Badge." Wicca is trying to establish itself as the survival of pre-Christian traditions. Satanism--even by its name--implies Opposition. The Enemy. The Adversary. It is by its nature antagonistic. Wicca is not.

Where I differ from a great many of my peers is that I do not regard Satanism as a religion, but rather a code of conduct. A strategy, if you will. We DO things, we don't BELIEVE things. Or at least this was always true in the past. I feel a great deal of younger Satanists are now concerned with what they belief, as if that really means anything. And while I feel it would be very possible to imagine a world where Wicca is the dominant religion, I feel the same is impossible for Satanists. There is power, real power, in taking the Antinomian stance.

So I am sorry if this offended, because I feel what I am saying is actually far more contreversial to some young Satanists than to Wiccans. You were never the target of this essay.

Well Andrew, I understand where you are coming from but figuratively speaking, wolves can use sheep skin, although it is quite unconventional. I have learned that I do not need everyone to know that I am a Satanist, in fact its better if they know I am not. I do not see myself as evil; I know that I will strike down anyone in my way and climb over piles of bodies and manipulate in order to get what I desire. Now, one thing that's personally different is that I would climb over my equal if required, similar to that of the alpha male or a lion.

It's not good to bad. It is good to pursue one goals to the very best of one's abilities while analyzing and calculating the possible outcomes.

PS: Screw the wolf and the lion. I want ICBMs( Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) and my own military.

For anyone to get in the label game of arguing over semantics, focusing on the labels like laveyan, traditional, or what have you is only expressing the truth of that ol' cliche cant see the forest for the trees. Instead of focusing on what matters in being a satanist, which is being a seperate and dare i say, higher breed than most.

Andrew,
I wish I could give you a virtual high 5! I can't tell you how many people I have dissuaded from calling themselves a Satanist, telling them that it's NOT a belief system for most. I also agree, I do NOT want Satanism to become mainstream, that would really mess things up, in my opinion. I do think it's fine that the military recognizes it as a "religion" so the G.I.'s have that benifit, should they choose to admit it to the branch of armed forces they serve.
Personally, I choose not to tell many others of my beliefs, and I also make it clear that I have no desire to listen to theirs.
Yes, being bad never felt SO good!
